Human and Spider Monkey, Nicaragua (2013)
The wildlife rescue center at the National Zoo in Nicaragua sees hundreds of animals dropped at its doorstep every year. Raccoons, birds, foxes, and monkeys occupy every square inch of the overwhelmed facility. Nevertheless, the team at the center is ambitious, and releases a number of their residents back into protected areas. Monkeys, given their susceptibility to humanization, are unfortunately much more difficult to release into the wild. Some individuals can never go back.
